Homeless?

Yes, the rumor is true:  we are homeless. What, if anything, would you like to know?  Please leave a comment or send an email with your questions.

Hi. I have followed your blog a long time now. It breaks my heart to know you are now homeless. Though I am sure you have already explored this option, I feel as if I should mention it anyway, just in case. Have you considered Section 8 housing? I know you do not wish to be on welfare, but in a pinch, the program is there to help those who need it, and you should feel free to use it as long as you need. Ten years ago, I found myself in a situation with 3 youngsters and needed help with housing. Not only was the apartment safe and comfortable, but nicer than I dreamed. As my income grew, my rent went up and four years ago, I moved back into a "regular" apartment. The last two years I was there, I was paying market rent, but they allowed me to stay to build up my savings. As I said, I am sure you have already explored this option, but I hope you won't look down upon yourself for taking help from the government. Able to work or not, a "living" wage these days may not pay the bills, and being a single parent is hard enough without having to worry about a roof over your head. I wish I could give you a hug. You are such a strong and inspirational lady!

Hearing from you is always so lovely! I appreciate your prayers, too. Thank you!

Thanks be to God, we did keep warm over our unusually long and rainy winter.

Dear Kelly,

Section 8 housing is a marvelous program that helps millions of deserving people to obtain decent housing. I don't qualify for the program, however, and the last time it was opened in this area, a near-riot ensued due to the high demand.

I appreciate your thinking of us. Thank you.

Agape always,
Cynthia
